Position Overview: Senior Electrical Engineer
We're looking for a driven Senior Electrical Engineer with deep expertise in power systems analysis and electrical modeling. This role centers on performing Short Circuit Coordination Studies and Arc Flash Hazard Analysis using SKM Power Tools, while also leading thermal modeling efforts for buried conductors using tools like Ampcalc, Cymcap, and proprietary software.
This individual will play a key role in mentoring staff and expanding firmwide proficiency in SKM software through training and knowledge-sharing.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct power system studies including short circuit, coordination, and arc flash analysis.
- Collaborate with design teams to optimize electrical systems for safety and performance.
- Perform on-site surveys to document existing electrical infrastructure.
- Review shop drawings and verify implementation of overcurrent protection settings.
- Lead training initiatives for SKM and related electrical modeling tools.
- Manage project timelines and deliverables effectively.
- Communicate proactively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Maintain design standards through use of internal checklists and guidelines.
- Attend project meetings and contribute to technical discussions.
- Identify and resolve project challenges in coordination with senior staff.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology.
- At least 10 years of experience in electrical design and power systems analysis.
- Advanced proficiency in SKM Power Tools for short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience with Revit and AutoCAD.
- Solid understanding of applicable codes and interdisciplinary coordination.
- Familiarity with documentation standards across all project phases.
- Knowledge of internal design and construction administration procedures.
Working Conditions
This role involves both office-based work and field visits. Physical activities may include sitting, walking, and standing for extended periods. Site visits may require ladder or lift use and navigating active construction sites. Work environments include both indoor and outdoor settings, with exposure to varying weather conditions.
