(Senior) Engineering Manager - Water/Wastewater

Our client, a Top 10 ENR-Ranked Water and employee-owned engineering and infrastructure consultancy is seeking a (Senior) Engineering Manager to join their Water & Wastewater division. This is a unique opportunity to lead high-impact municipal projects across the full project lifecycle, including traditional, design-build, and collaborative delivery models.


The Opportunity

In this role, you will oversee the engineering execution of complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including advanced treatment facilities, underground conveyance systems, and sustainable, carbon-neutral solutions. You will:

  • Lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams on large-scale municipal projects
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and client communications
  • Mentor and develop junior engineering staff
  • Ensure technical excellence and compliance across all project phases
  • Support business development and client engagement initiatives

The successful candidate will join a nationally recognized water infrastructure team, consistently ranked among the top firms in water supply, wastewater, and environmental services. The team partners with public sector clients to modernize infrastructure, optimize asset performance, and deliver resilient, sustainable solutions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review complex engineering deliverables
  • Conduct technical research and develop equipment/material recommendations
  • Lead project planning, budgeting, and quality assurance across disciplines
  • Coordinate with clients to understand project drivers and manage change
  • Provide technical leadership and serve as the responsible charge on projects
  • Support hiring, mentoring, and performance management of engineering staff

Candidate Profile

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in water/wastewater infrastructure
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screening (background check, drug screen, MVR)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Experience in engineering consulting
  • Proven track record delivering multi-discipline WWTP upgrades and expansions
  • Strong leadership and client-facing communication skills

Work Environment

This position offers a hybrid work model following an initial onboarding period. Occasional travel to client sites is expected.
