My client, a growing multidisciplinary consulting firm in the Milwaukee area, is seeking a Senior Environmental Manager to lead and expand its environmental practice. This position offers a unique opportunity to drive department growth, develop staff, manage key client relationships, and oversee a diverse portfolio of environmental projects throughout southeastern Wisconsin.
The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with proven leadership capabilities and a passion for mentoring teams and growing client partnerships.
Responsibilities
Project & Client Management
- Direct environmental projects from planning through completion, ensuring successful execution of scope, schedule, budget, and client expectations
- Review and approve technical reports, environmental assessments, and project deliverables
- Maintain strong relationships with existing clients while identifying opportunities to expand services
- Serve as a senior technical resource for complex environmental projects
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and support environmental professionals at various experience levels
- Conduct performance evaluations and support employee growth and career progression
- Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and workforce planning
- Foster a collaborative, high-performing team environment
Department Leadership
- Work closely with company leadership to establish operational and financial objectives
- Oversee resource allocation and project staffing across the environmental team
- Support strategic growth initiatives and help develop a sustainable project backlog
- Monitor departmental performance, utilization, and overall business objectives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or a related discipline
- Professional registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) required
- 15+ years of environmental consulting, project management, and leadership experience
- Strong understanding of environmental regulations, compliance requirements, and industry best practices
- Experience managing environmental assessment, investigation, and remediation projects
- Demonstrated success leading teams and developing staff
- Excellent communication, organizational, and client relationship management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of technical quality
- Limited travel required, primarily within southeastern Wisconsin
