Job Summary

My client is seeking a seasoned and driven Senior Environmental Engineer, Geologist, or Hydrogeologist to join its Fort Lauderdale team. This role involves leading site investigations, overseeing environmental sampling and remediation efforts, and guiding junior staff in the execution of technically sound and regulatory-compliant projects. You'll work on a variety of complex environmental challenges, including restoring impacted sites and supporting redevelopment initiatives, while contributing to a collaborative and growth-oriented team culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead field investigations, including soil borings, well installations, and environmental sampling across multiple media (soil, groundwater, vapor, surface water).
  • Oversee construction and remediation activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications and environmental standards.
  • Operate and maintain treatment systems for groundwater and soil vapor remediation.
  • Support permitting efforts and ensure alignment with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
  • Analyze historical and environmental data to support due diligence and site characterization.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation, including field logs, investigation summaries, and engineering reports.
  • Identify and troubleshoot field challenges, communicating effectively with project managers and clients.
  • Lead the development of engineering plans, specifications, cost estimates, and remedial designs.
  • Manage project budgets and schedules, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Serve as a technical mentor to junior staff and coordinate cross-disciplinary project teams.
  • Represent the firm professionally in client meetings, regulatory discussions, and subcontractor coordination.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in environmental site investigation, remediation design, and construction oversight.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) license, or ability to obtain within one year.
  • Experience with Phase I, II, and III environmental site assessments and groundwater treatment system design.
  • Familiarity with CERCLA, RCRA, and other applicable environmental regulations.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to work occasional overtime and travel to project sites.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for fieldwork and client meetings.
