Senior Geotechnial Project Manager

 An established, growth-minded engineering consultancy is adding a Geotechnical Project Engineer to support highways, rail/bridge structures, retaining walls, slopes, pavements, ground improvement of soft soils/subgrades, and utility infrastructure across Virginia. If you're fluent in VDOT practice and enjoy moving seamlessly from field to design to client conversations, this one's for you.
What you'll do
- Lead/serve as Project Engineer on multi-disciplinary geotechnical and pavement assignments.
- Develop and oversee subsurface exploration programs and supervise field investigations.
- Perform design computations and prepare geotechnical engineering reports and recommendations.
- Contribute to construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Assist with task proposals and help nurture client relationships across Virginia.
- Foster innovative, efficient design concepts to improve delivery and constructability.
What you bring
- B.S. in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical emphasis ideal).
- 5-10 years of geotechnical design experience; VDOT experience strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of VDOT Geotechnical & Pavement MOI and AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design specs.
- Software familiarity: Microsoft Office, gINT, LPile/APile, MSEW, Slide, Settle3, SLOPE/W, AASHTOWare Pavement ME, GRLWEAP.
- Strong written and verbal communication; proactive problem-solving; comfort coordinating with clients and internal teams.
Bonus points
- M.S. in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering.
- P.E. (Virginia preferred) or the ability to obtain VA PE within 6 months.
