Position Overview
We are currently seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join our HVAC department in the Boston office. This role is ideal for a technically proficient and experienced engineer who excels in communication, coordination, and project leadership. The Senior Project Engineer typically manages one or two smaller projects and plays a key design role on larger base-building and infrastructure upgrade initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead HVAC design for tenant fit-out projects and contribute significantly to base building and infrastructure upgrades.
- Develop riser diagrams, schedules, floor plans, and assist in writing specifications.
- Define design criteria and prepare basis of design documentation.
- Produce comprehensive contract documents, including layouts for equipment rooms, shafts, risers, and closets.
- Design ancillary systems such as UPS, generators, fuel systems, and water reclamation systems.
- Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, evaluate contractor change orders, and conduct site visits and punch lists with minimal supervision.
- Help establish and maintain efficient project schedules and ensure timely task completion across the team.
Qualifications
- 6-9 years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Strong knowledge of trade-specific scopes, codes, and interdisciplinary coordination.
- Familiarity with documentation standards across all project phases (SD, DD, CD, specifications).
- Proficiency in design tools such as Revit and AutoCAD.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and anticipate project needs.
