Senior Project Manager - Civil Land Development
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Senior Project Manager to lead and manage a variety of civil land development projects across multiple sectors. This role is ideal for a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of site development, permitting processes, and multidisciplinary coordination. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping project outcomes, mentoring junior staff, and supporting client relationships.
Position Overview:
As a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, design, and execution of land development projects from initial concept through final delivery. You will work closely with clients, consultants, regulatory agencies, and internal teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with client expectations. This position requires a balance of technical expertise, leadership, and business acumen.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the full lifecycle of civil land development projects, including feasibility studies, due diligence, conceptual planning, design coordination, permitting, and construction support.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring clear communication, timely updates, and alignment with project goals.
- Coordinate with internal engineering, planning, and design teams, as well as external consultants, surveyors, and contractors.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources, proactively identifying and mitigating risks.
- Oversee preparation and submission of permit applications and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior project managers, engineers, and support staff.
- Support business development efforts by contributing to proposals, attending client meetings, and identifying new opportunities.
- Maintain a strong understanding of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies relevant to land development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Land Development, or a related field (PE license preferred but not required).
- 8+ years of progressive experience in civil engineering or land development, with at least 3 years in a project management role.
- Proven track record of managing complex, multi-phase development projects.
- Strong knowledge of site design, grading, drainage, utilities, and permitting processes.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with project management tools and civil design software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, MS Project).
