Senior Quality Control Manager - Heavy Civil
A reputable Heavy Civil General Contractor in Utah is currently seeking a Senior Quality Control Manager for upcoming construction projects. This contractor has north of $250M in ongoing backlog and is actively pursuing more projects ranging from $100M - $500M!
Salary Range: $130,000 - $150,000
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership for quality control across all operations and projects.
- Develop, implement, and maintain divisional QC programs aligned with project specifications, DOT, federal, and local requirements.
- Lead and train a team of QC managers, technicians, and inspectors across multiple job sites.
- Review and stamp mix designs, manage material submittals, and ensure all required testing is performed and documented.
- Oversee and verify compliance with asphalt, materials, concrete, and earthwork specifications and requirements.
- Lead coordination with external stakeholders including clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and regulatory agencies.
- Champion a culture of quality, continuous improvement, and safety across all levels of field and office staff.
- Investigate, document, and resolve QC issues, non-conformances, and rework items in collaboration with project teams.
- Lead and perform inspections pre-construction, during construction, and post-construction phases.
- Ensure QC reporting, certifications, and documentation are accurate, timely, and audit-ready.
- Support project teams in bid reviews, constructability input, and specification interpretation as needed.
- Attend progress meetings, support project schedules, and provide input on QA/QC risk and mitigation strategies.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in construction quality control, with at least 5 years in a managerial or lead role.
- Strong knowledge of asphalt, concrete, earthwork, and materials testing standards.
- Proven experience working with government departments, DOTs, and regulatory agencies.
- High school diploma required, Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and PDF tools; ability to learn project-specific software quickly.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience managing QC for large-scale heavy civil, industrial, or DOT projects.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and train QC teams across multiple job sites.
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality, documentation, and continuous improvement.
