Senior Roadway Design Manager
Location: Texas (Relocation Assistance Available)
Our client is seeking a Senior Roadway Design Manager to help lead and grow their transportation practice. This individual will play a key role in roadway design delivery, client development, pursuit efforts, and mentoring junior engineers while supporting TxDOT and municipal transportation projects across Texas.
Responsibilities
- Lead roadway design efforts for TxDOT transportation projects from planning through final design.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and technical deliverables.
- Utilize existing TxDOT pre-certifications and help expand the firm's transportation capabilities.
- Support business development activities, including client engagement, pursuit strategy, proposal preparation, and project interviews.
- Identify and develop opportunities with TxDOT, municipalities, counties, and other public agencies.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and design staff.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across roadway, drainage, traffic, bridge, and utility disciplines.
- Serve as a client-facing representative and help strengthen long-term relationships within the Texas transportation market.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Approximately 6-10+ years of roadway design experience, with flexibility depending on overall qualifications and business development capabilities.
- Strong background delivering TxDOT roadway projects.
- Existing TxDOT pre-certifications preferred.
- Experience with OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, and TxDOT design standards.
- Demonstrated ability to develop client relationships and contribute to winning new work.
- Strong communication, leadership, and mentoring skills.
- Desire to help grow a team and train younger engineers.
Preferred Experience
- TxDOT project management experience.
- Existing relationships within the Texas transportation market.
- Proposal development, interview, and pursuit experience.
- Experience leading project teams and serving as Engineer of Record.
