About the Opportunity
My client, a nationally recognized employee-owned engineering consultancy, is expanding its water resources team in Virginia. This is a high-impact role for a seasoned engineer who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about sustainable stormwater solutions, infrastructure resilience, and community-focused design.

You'll be joining a multidisciplinary office with a strong transportation portfolio, helping to grow the water resources discipline and support clients across municipal, state, and federal sectors.

What You'll Do

  • Lead stormwater and drainage design projects from concept to completion
  • Support MS4 compliance and TMDL strategies for municipalities
  • Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, watershed studies, and permitting
  • Prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates
  • Mentor junior engineers and collaborate across disciplines
  • Engage in proposal development and client presentations
  • Build relationships with local and state agencies

What You'll Bring

  • PE license in Virginia (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
  • Bachelor's in Civil Engineering or related field (ABET accredited)
  • 10+ years of experience in civil design, with 5+ in water resources
  • Proficiency in tools like HEC-RAS, Civil 3D, OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, and GIS
  • Familiarity with Virginia's Runoff Reduction Method and DEQ permitting
  • Experience with VDOT and Locally Administered Projects (LAP) preferred
  • DEQ certifications in E&S and stormwater inspection/plan review a plus
