About the Opportunity
An established consulting engineering firm is seeking a Senior Stormwater Engineer to lead the delivery of stormwater, drainage, and watershed infrastructure projects throughout the Puget Sound region. This position offers the opportunity to work with municipal clients on a diverse range of projects focused on stormwater management, drainage improvements, water quality, flood mitigation, and climate resilience.
The ideal candidate is a technically strong engineer who enjoys balancing project delivery, client relationships, business development, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and deliver stormwater and drainage infrastructure projects from planning through design and construction support.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for municipal, county, and utility clients.
- Lead multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate work across engineering, environmental, and planning disciplines.
- Oversee the preparation of engineering reports, studies, plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Provide technical leadership for projects involving:
- Stormwater collection systems
- Drainage conveyance infrastructure
- Green stormwater infrastructure
- Low Impact Development (LID) facilities
- Surface water management
- Flood control and drainage improvement projects
- Support watershed planning, capital improvement planning, and regulatory compliance efforts.
- Mentor junior engineers and support technical staff development.
- Participate in proposal preparation, project interviews, and client presentations.
- Identify opportunities for expanding services with existing clients and developing new business relationships.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- 8+ years of experience in stormwater, drainage, water resources, or municipal infrastructure engineering.
- Demonstrated project management experience with public-sector clients.
- Experience leading stormwater design and drainage improvement projects.
- Strong understanding of municipal stormwater regulations and permitting requirements.
- Experience managing project budgets, schedules, and client expectations.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
