About the Opportunity

An established consulting engineering firm is seeking a Senior Stormwater Engineer to lead the delivery of stormwater, drainage, and watershed infrastructure projects throughout the Puget Sound region. This position offers the opportunity to work with municipal clients on a diverse range of projects focused on stormwater management, drainage improvements, water quality, flood mitigation, and climate resilience.

The ideal candidate is a technically strong engineer who enjoys balancing project delivery, client relationships, business development, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and deliver stormwater and drainage infrastructure projects from planning through design and construction support.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for municipal, county, and utility clients.
  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate work across engineering, environmental, and planning disciplines.
  • Oversee the preparation of engineering reports, studies, plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Provide technical leadership for projects involving:
    • Stormwater collection systems
    • Drainage conveyance infrastructure
    • Green stormwater infrastructure
    • Low Impact Development (LID) facilities
    • Surface water management
    • Flood control and drainage improvement projects
  • Support watershed planning, capital improvement planning, and regulatory compliance efforts.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support technical staff development.
  • Participate in proposal preparation, project interviews, and client presentations.
  • Identify opportunities for expanding services with existing clients and developing new business relationships.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • 8+ years of experience in stormwater, drainage, water resources, or municipal infrastructure engineering.
  • Demonstrated project management experience with public-sector clients.
  • Experience leading stormwater design and drainage improvement projects.
  • Strong understanding of municipal stormwater regulations and permitting requirements.
  • Experience managing project budgets, schedules, and client expectations.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
