The Role
The Structural Engineer will support the design, evaluation, and delivery of structural engineering projects across a range of industrial environments, including:
- Chemical processing facilities
- Utility and power infrastructure
- Mining and material‑handling structures
- Industrial buildings and equipment support systems
- Commercial structures requiring specialized analysis
This is a full‑time, in‑office role based in Columbus, Ohio, working closely with principals, engineers, and project stakeholders to ensure that each solution meets the functional, operational, and safety objectives of the client.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and production of structural drawings, electronic models, specifications, and technical reports.
- Perform structural calculations related to steel, concrete, and other materials common to industrial structures.
- Conduct field inspections, structural assessments, and onsite evaluations.
- Support the preparation of proposals, client presentations, and project documentation.
- Participate in client meetings to understand project requirements, constraints, and design intent.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to develop effective engineering solutions.
- Provide guidance and technical direction to support staff as needed.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited program.
- 3-10 years of relevant structural engineering experience, preferably with exposure to industrial environments.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license, or active progress toward licensure.
- Familiarity with drafting and modeling tools such as AutoCAD and Revit.
- Proficiency with structural analysis software (e.g., RISA, STAAD, Enercalc).
- Strong competency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Highly organized, self‑motivated, and capable of managing multiple tasks.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Strong professional judgement, ability to work independently, and commitment to confidentiality.
- Ability to meet firm and client safety, drug, and compliance requirements.
