Position Summary

The Senior Superintendent is responsible for organizing, managing, and controlling assigned construction projects to ensure objectives related to schedule, quality, safety, and budget are achieved. This role provides on‑site leadership, oversees field operations, and coordinates subcontractors and suppliers in close collaboration with the Project Manager and project leadership team.

The Senior Superintendent serves as the primary field authority on the project and plays a critical role in driving productivity, enforcing standards, and maintaining strong relationships with all project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Preconstruction

  • Provide technical expertise throughout the preconstruction phase.
  • Develop and contribute to jobsite logistics plans.
  • Participate in constructability reviews.
  • Assist with the development and management of the preconstruction schedule.

Field Operations

  • Build, organize, and lead the field team.
  • Arrange temporary facilities, utilities, and site setup requirements.
  • Manage daily jobsite operations including sequencing, logistics, and safety.
  • Direct workflow in accordance with the project schedule.
  • Communicate priorities clearly to subcontractors and field staff.
  • Maintain detailed daily reports and construction logs using Procore or similar systems.
  • Review plans and specifications for constructability and proactively identify issues.
  • Generate and manage RFIs, resolving questions internally when possible.
  • Participate in and understand the submittal process to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager to maintain and update the project schedule.
  • Inspect work in place to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Identify long‑lead items and work with the project team to track procurement.
  • Maintain accurate and complete contract documents on site, including changes and revisions.
  • Develop and maintain record drawings and close‑out documentation.
  • Coordinate inspections and maintain inspection records for project close‑out.
  • Understand the prime contract and subcontractor scopes of work.
  • Maintain strong, fair, and professional relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Identify potential issues or change items and propose solutions to mitigate cost or schedule impacts.
  • Establish punch list and close‑out procedures with the project team and stakeholders.
  • Schedule and procure tools, equipment, and materials required for project execution.
  • Mentor and train field personnel as needed.
  • Attend and actively participate in weekly project meetings (OAC).

Safety

  • Maintain a safe, secure jobsite at all times.
  • Ensure safety requirements are understood and enforced by all personnel.
  • Promote a zero‑incident, zero‑injury safety culture.
  • Lead on‑site safety meetings and ensure proper training before work begins.
  • Review subcontractor safety programs and documentation.
  • Identify, correct, and report safety hazards and incidents promptly.
  • Lead by example with a safety‑first mindset at all times.

Customer & Stakeholder Relations

  • Understand and communicate the Owner's goals to the field team.
  • Maintain positive, professional relationships with Owners, Architects, and project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Business Development (as applicable)

  • Support project pursuits through constructability input and field expertise.
  • Participate in proposal development and interview presentations when required.
  • Maintain relationships within the subcontractor and vendor community.
  • Identify potential project leads and opportunities for future work.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; vocational training or college degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience as a construction superintendent.
  • Proven experience serving as the lead superintendent on complex projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and sequencing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Advanced experience with construction management software (Procore, MS Project, or similar).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
  • OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Ability to perform under schedule pressure while maintaining professionalism and control.
  • Self‑starter with the ability to set priorities and lead teams effectively.
