About the Opportunity
A well-established consulting engineering firm is seeking an experienced Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer to support and manage municipal infrastructure projects throughout California. This position offers the opportunity to work on high-impact water, wastewater, recycled water, and stormwater projects while playing a key role in a growing and collaborative utility practice.
The successful candidate will contribute to project delivery, client service, staff mentorship, and business development efforts while helping public-sector clients address aging infrastructure challenges and long-term utility needs.
What You'll Do
Water & Wastewater Treatment
- Lead planning, design, and permitting efforts for new and rehabilitated treatment facilities.
- Support projects involving drinking water treatment, wastewater treatment, recycled water systems, and regulatory compliance.
- Coordinate with permitting and regulatory agencies throughout project development.
Utility Infrastructure & Conveyance
- Manage the design and rehabilitation of pipelines, pump stations, storage facilities, and related utility infrastructure.
- Oversee technical deliverables, project schedules, and budgets.
- Provide quality assurance reviews for engineering documents.
Project & Client Management
- Manage multidisciplinary project teams and consultants.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for municipal clients.
- Prepare proposals, scopes of work, budgets, and project schedules.
- Participate in strategic planning and business development activities.
Leadership & Mentorship
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project staff.
- Perform engineering oversight and responsible charge duties, including signing and sealing engineering documents where applicable.
- Support team growth and professional development initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline.
- California PE license required.
- Minimum 8 years of consulting or municipal engineering experience related to water, wastewater, or stormwater infrastructure.
- Strong background in project management and client-facing project delivery.
- Experience preparing plans, specifications, cost estimates, technical memoranda, and engineering reports.
- Familiarity with utility modeling software and engineering design tools such as Civil 3D, WaterCAD, or similar platforms.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Experience mentoring staff and supporting business development efforts is highly valued.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $125,000 - $150,000 annually
