Position Summary

The Field Service Technician is responsible for servicing customer water treatment programs, conducting routine testing and monitoring, maintaining chemical feed equipment, and providing technical recommendations to ensure optimal system performance.

This position serves as a key customer-facing representative of the company and plays a critical role in maintaining customer satisfaction and operational excellence.


Key Responsibilities

Field Service & Water Chemistry

  • Perform routine service visits at customer locations throughout the assigned territory.
  • Conduct water analysis and testing for cooling towers, boilers, and closed-loop systems.
  • Monitor and adjust chemical treatment programs to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collect and interpret water quality data and trend reports.
  • Generate service reports and communicate findings to customers.

Equipment Inspection & Maintenance

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain chemical feed equipment and controllers.
  • Calibrate pumps, meters, and monitoring equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on water treatment systems.
  • Identify equipment issues and coordinate repairs when necessary.

Customer Support

  • Serve as the primary field contact for assigned customer accounts.
  • Provide recommendations to improve water quality, system efficiency, and equipment reliability.
  • Educate customers on treatment programs and best operating practices.
  • Respond to service calls and assist with troubleshooting operational challenges.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all company, customer, and regulatory safety requirements.
  • Complete required documentation and field reports accurately and on time.
  • Ensure treatment programs support customer compliance and operational objectives.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment at customer sites.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate service records and chemical inventory information.
  • Submit expense reports, service documentation, and customer updates in a timely manner.
  • Assist sales and management teams with customer retention and account growth opportunities.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of experience in industrial water treatment, facility maintenance, HVAC water treatment, boiler operations, or related field service work.
  • Working knowledge of cooling towers, steam boilers, and closed-loop systems.
  • Ability to perform water testing and interpret results.
  • Strong troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred

  • Experience with industrial or commercial water treatment programs.
  • Knowledge of corrosion control, scale prevention, and microbiological control.
  • Familiarity with chemical feed systems, pumps, and automated controllers.
  • Water treatment certifications (AWT, CWT, or equivalent) are a plus.
  • Experience in healthcare, manufacturing, petrochemical, institutional, or commercial facilities.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent walking throughout industrial and commercial facilities.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely handle water treatment chemicals and testing equipment.
