About the Role
A leading engineering and environmental consulting firm is seeking a Site/Civil Engineering Leader to join its expanding team in Syracuse, NY. This is a high-impact leadership position offering the opportunity to mentor a multidisciplinary design team, manage complex land development projects, and cultivate strong client relationships. Projects span renewable energy, residential and commercial developments, warehouse distribution centers, and mixed-use spaces for both public and private sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with office leadership to develop strategic growth plans and optimize team utilization.
- Lead business development efforts by cultivating new client relationships and maintaining existing ones.
- Oversee all aspects of land development engineering, integrating geotechnical and environmental considerations.
- Navigate local, county, and state land use entitlement processes; familiarity with New York State regulations is a plus.
- Manage site/civil design from concept to completion, including site layout, grading, drainage, infrastructure, and erosion control.
- Provide expertise in stormwater management, low-impact development (LID), hydrologic/hydraulic analysis, and SWPPP preparation.
- Represent projects in planning board meetings and public hearings (preferred).
- Availability for occasional evening and weekend work as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Master's preferred).
- Licensed Professional Engineer in New York (or eligible for reciprocity).
- Minimum 10 years of experience in site/civil land development engineering.
- Proven ability to write technical reports and proposals.
- Strong client development and relationship management skills.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D (preferred), with experience designing site layouts.
- Active involvement in professional organizations.
- Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capabilities.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and multitasking skills.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license in good standing.
The estimated range for this role is: $112,500 - $181,000. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, location, market conditions, education/training, certifications and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills. Certain roles may be eligible for overtime and participation in the firm's annual bonus and performance review program. Bonuses are discretionary and based on individual job performance and the profitability of the firm. Employees are also eligible to receive up to 20 days of paid vacation time, 10 days of paid sick time and 10 paid holidays throughout the year. Eligibility and actual paid time off may vary based on local law and factors such as hours worked, related work experience and level.
