Solar Civil Engineer
About the Role
A leading engineering and environmental consulting firm is seeking a Civil Engineer to support its growing national renewable energy practice. This role involves planning, design, and permitting for solar and other renewable energy projects. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare planning, design, and permitting documents for renewable energy land development and infrastructure projects using tools such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Lead tasks related to engineering reports, specifications, plans, cost estimates, and technical designs.
- Conduct feasibility studies, cost analyses, and zoning/sustainability assessments.
- Perform field inspections and support construction-related services as needed.
- Draft and review technical reports, including stormwater management and utility studies.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality project outcomes.
- Support other engineering disciplines (e.g., roadway, environmental, geotechnical) when needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Master's preferred).
- Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification required.
- 3-5 years of experience in solar civil land development.
- Familiarity with local land-use regulations and permitting processes.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and land development design.
- Strong skills in stormwater management, grading, utility design, and erosion control.
- Experience with hydraulic/hydrologic calculations and permitting (e.g., NPDES).
- Field experience in construction observation, geotechnical testing, or surveying is a plus.
- Active involvement in professional organizations is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with occasional field assignments.
