About the Company

Our client is a leading international renewable energy developer with a strong and growing presence in Japan. With a robust pipeline of solar, wind, and battery energy storage (BESS) projects, the firm is backed by reputable investors and committed to supporting Japan's energy transition.

Due to continued expansion, they are looking to hire an experienced SPC Accountant to support their project finance and asset portfolio in Japan.

Position Overview

This role will be responsible for the financial management and accounting of multiple Special Purpose Companies (SPCs) established for renewable energy projects. You will work closely with internal finance, investment, and asset management teams, as well as external stakeholders, to ensure accurate reporting and compliance.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on high-value infrastructure assets within a growing and collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle accounting for multiple SPC entities (monthly, quarterly, annual closing)
  • Prepare financial statements in compliance with J-GAAP (and IFRS preferred)
  • Oversee cash flow management, budgeting, and variance analysis for project companies
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders including auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions
  • Monitor loan covenants and support lender reporting requirements
  • Assist with project financing, refinancing, and M&A transactions from an accounting perspective
  • Ensure compliance with local statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements
  • Support internal reporting to headquarters and investment stakeholders

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant discipline
  • 3-8+ years of experience in SPC accounting / project finance / infrastructure / renewable energy
  • Strong understanding of J-GAAP (IFRS knowledge is an advantage)
  • Experience working with project companies, funds, or asset-heavy businesses
  • Fluent Japanese (native level) and business-level English
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and communication skills

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in renewable energy, infrastructure, or private equity-backed platforms
  • Familiarity with project finance structures and lender reporting
  • CPA or equivalent qualification is advantageous
