Transportation Engineer - Illinois-Based Opportunity

A well-established engineering consulting firm is seeking an experienced and motivated Transportation Engineer to assist senior staff and contribute to transportation infrastructure projects across Illinois. This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to work on high-impact transportation design projects for state and local agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and contribute to the design and planning of diverse infrastructure projects, with a focus on transportation and bridge work.
  • Take initiative and demonstrate reliability in executing tasks with a positive, solution-oriented mindset.
  • Prioritize client satisfaction by delivering high-quality work on schedule and with close attention to detail.
  • Draft and evaluate project scopes, timelines, budgets, fee estimates, and responses to RFQs.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with clients through consistent communication and service.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, supporting their technical and professional development.
  • Represent the firm in public forums, including meetings and outreach efforts, and assist in preparing related materials.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • At least 4 years of professional experience in transportation infrastructure projects
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois, or eligible for licensure through reciprocity
  • Strong grasp of engineering standards, specifications, design methodologies, and commonly used software tools

Minimum Requirements:

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) with at least 4 years of experience
  • Project experience with IDOT/Illinois Tollway
  • Software experience using MicroStation, OpenRoads, and/or Geopak
