Sr. Estimator (Rail)
Role Overview:
Responsible for supporting proposal development, bid preparation, cost estimates, schedules, and construction methods for major infrastructure projects. Interfaces with local subcontractors and vendors during project pursuits.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Prepare preliminary cost estimates, budgets, and schedules for bids and proposals.
- Maintain and update subcontractor and vendor bid lists.
- Perform accurate quantity take-offs and surveys.
- Solicit bid information from subcontractors, partners, and suppliers.
- Distribute and manage bid plans and related documentation.
- Prepare pricing sheets and ensure bid documents remain current.
- Deliver bids, proposals, and prequalification packages to owners.
- Manage compliance with WBE, DBE, SBE, and MBE participation goals during the bidding process.
- Lead detailed reviews of subcontractor scope and pricing prior to award.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing, timely delivery, and quality standards.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in estimating, preferably in heavy civil or transportation infrastructure projects.
- Prior experience with NYC MTA projects or similar large-scale transit work strongly preferred.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred.
- Proficiency in estimating and bidding software such as HCSS HeavyBid, PlanSwift, and related tools.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
