Project Manager - Transportation

An established multi‑discipline engineering firm is seeking a Project Manager specializing in transportation to support ongoing clients and help expand work within the Atlanta metropolitan area. This senior-level position will play a key role in leading structural and transportation-related pursuits, managing projects, and contributing to regional business development.
The ideal candidate will guide teams through planning and engineering tasks, analyze solutions, oversee staff, and manage highway and transportation design projects. The position requires strong familiarity with AASHTO standards as well as state and local transportation criteria. Regular coordination with clients, agencies, consultants, and internal project teams is expected.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead transportation planning and design projects in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians on planning and design work.
- Apply highway design standards and technical manuals to active projects.
- Prepare construction documents, technical specifications, and cost estimates.
- Communicate effectively in written and verbal formats; able to work well within teams.
- Serve as Project Manager and/or Contract Manager for transportation assignments.
- Facilitate internal meetings, client presentations, and plan approvals.
- Coordinate the efforts of internal staff and subconsultants.
- Act as primary liaison between the client and the project team.
- Participate in business development, marketing efforts, and proposal pursuits.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- 10+ years of experience in civil/transportation/highway engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Georgia, or the ability to obtain it within six months.
- Proficiency in transportation design software (e.g., MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, Civil 3D) as well as Microsoft Office tools.
- Experience working with state and local transportation agencies.
Preferred Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in transportation/highway design.
- Experience with alternative project delivery methods.
