Sr. Project Manager (Ground-Up Construction)
Position Overview
This leadership role is focused on guiding the delivery of substantial and/or intricate construction initiatives from early planning stages through final completion. The individual in this position is accountable for overseeing all dimensions of project execution, including financial performance, timeline management, subcontractor coordination, quality assurance, and safety compliance. As a senior leader, this person fosters strong partnerships with clients and collaborators, supports internal team development, and promotes ongoing enhancements in project execution. This role is integral to the Operations group and demands the ability to balance multiple priorities, navigate complex challenges, and uphold the organization's commitment to excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the implementation of major or multifaceted ground-up construction efforts, ensuring alignment with established timelines, budgets, safety protocols, and quality benchmarks
- Oversee financial aspects of projects, including projections, budgeting, cost oversight, and monthly billing procedures
- Lead subcontractor selection, contract finalization, change management, and performance tracking
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to create, revise, and manage project schedules and site logistics strategies
- Build and maintain productive relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders through clear communication and proactive problem-solving
- Ensure strict adherence to safety and quality standards specific to each project and the broader organizational policies
- Support the growth and development of project team members by fostering a culture of responsibility, teamwork, and continuous learning
- Perform additional duties as needed
Qualifications and Skills
- Required:Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline such as Construction Management or Engineering
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial construction, with a track record of leading large or complex projects
- Strong capabilities in managing project finances, schedules, contracts, and subcontractor relationships
- In-depth knowledge of construction methodologies, safety practices, and quality control standards
- Familiarity with industry-standard software tools (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, or Primavera P6)
- Proven ability to lead teams, solve problems effectively, and communicate clearly
Preferred:
- LEED certification or familiarity with sustainable construction practices
- Experience with Design-Build and Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) delivery models
- Strategic mindset and experience in business development
- Ability to mentor and cultivate high-performing teams
