Staff Archaeologist/Field Tech
Position Summary:
Our client is currently seeking a qualified and motivated Staff Archaeologist to join their Southern California team. The successful candidate will support fieldwork, reporting, and compliance efforts for a wide range of projects including renewables/solar energy, land development, and resource management initiatives. This is a great opportunity for an early-career professional to grow within a dynamic and supportive team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct archaeological field surveys, testing, monitoring, and excavation in compliance with CEQA, NEPA, Section 106, and other applicable regulations
- Prepare and contribute to site records, technical reports, and environmental documents
- Assist with artifact processing, cataloging, and basic analysis
- Coordinate with field directors, project managers, and senior archaeologists
- Ensure field safety and data integrity throughout all project phases
Qualifications:
- B.A. or B.S. in Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field (M.A. preferred)
- R.P.A. Preferred
- 4+ years of professional experience in CRM or archaeological fieldwork (Southern California experience strongly preferred)
- Knowledge of local prehistory, ethnography, and historical archaeology
- Familiarity with GPS units, digital data collection, and GIS a plus
- Ability to work in diverse terrain and weather conditions, sometimes for extended periods
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
