Senior Water Resources Engineer - Florida (Orlando or Tampa)
A leading, employee-owned engineering firm with a legacy of excellence is expanding its Florida operations. With a strong presence in Orlando and Tampa, the firm is known for delivering innovative stormwater and flood mitigation solutions across the state. They are currently seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer to support and lead a variety of stormwater, drainage, and flood risk projects.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) models (1D & 2D), water quality modeling, geospatial evaluations, design plans, specifications, and cost estimates
- Support civil, drainage, stormwater, FEMA flood studies, and capital improvement projects
- Conduct system flow analysis for drainage, surface waters, flood risk, and mitigation alternatives
- Perform design, inspection, and review for storm sewer line replacements, facility retrofits, and bridge scour studies
- Address local, state, and federal flood management regulations and provide permitting support
- Assist in preparing bid documents and managing the bid process for rehabilitation and capital projects
- Participate in fieldwork, site visits, and data collection under varying weather conditions
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
- 10+ years of experience in water resources, stormwater, and flood mitigation design
- Experience in stream restoration, wetlands, stormwater control measures, municipal design, and green/gray infrastructure
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office; familiarity with HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and ESRI ArcGIS
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment; willingness to travel locally (up to 25%)
- Must pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Experience with FEMA flood studies, stormwater hydrology, and infrastructure permitting/design
