Substation Engineer (P&C/ Physical)
Overview
We are seeking a Substation Engineer with experience in both Physical Design and Protection & Control (P&C) engineering. This role supports the design, analysis, and development of high‑voltage substation projects ranging from 15 kV to 500 kV. The ideal candidate has strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work cross‑functionally with project teams.
Key Responsibilities
Physical (Electrical/Structural) Design
- Develop substation physical layout drawings, including general arrangements, equipment plans, grounding, and conduit routing.
- Prepare equipment specifications and support procurement activities.
- Perform engineering calculations such as bus sizing, grounding studies, conduit/cable sizing, and short‑circuit analysis.
- Coordinate with civil/structural teams on foundations, structures, and site development.
- Review vendor drawings and ensure compliance with project requirements.
Protection & Control (P&C) Engineering
- Create one‑line, three‑line, AC/DC schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams.
- Develop relay settings, logic, and configuration files for protective relays and IEDs.
- Support SCADA/RTU integration, networking configurations, and communications design.
- Perform protection studies including relay coordination, fault analysis, and breaker duty checks.
- Assist with commissioning support, testing plans, and as‑built documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- 3-10+ years of experience in substation engineering (physical and/or P&C).
- Familiarity with industry standards (IEEE, NESC, ANSI).
- Experience with tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, ETAP/ASPEN/SKM, or relay software (SEL, GE, ABB).
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- EIT or PE license.
- Experience with utility, EPC, or consulting engineering environments.
- Knowledge of SCADA protocols (DNP3, Modbus, IEC 61850).
- Field, commissioning, or relay testing exposure.
