Substation Supervisor

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly qualified Substation Supervisor to lead engineering and construction efforts for substation projects across Texas. This role is ideal for a licensed Professional Engineer with 5-8 years of hands-on experience in physical substation design, construction oversight, and team leadership. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring technical excellence, safety compliance, and timely delivery of substation infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise the design, development, and execution of physical substation projects, including layout, grounding, conduit systems, and equipment installation.
  • Manage engineering teams and field personnel to ensure alignment with project goals, timelines, and budgets.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation in accordance with IEEE, NESC, and utility standards.
  • Coordinate with internal departments, contractors, vendors, and utility clients to ensure smooth project execution and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor construction progress, resolve field issues, and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
  • Support outage planning, material procurement, and commissioning activities.
  • Maintain accurate project records, schedules, and reports for internal and client review.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5-8 years of experience in physical substation engineering and construction.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Texas, or ability to obtain.
  • Strong knowledge of substation components, protection systems, and utility standards.
  • Proven leadership and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
  • Proficiency in engineering software and tools such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and project scheduling platforms.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience working with utilities or engineering consulting firms in Texas.
  • Familiarity with permitting, environmental compliance, and utility coordination.
  • Exposure to renewable energy or grid modernization projects is a plus.
