A growing heavy civil contractor in the Salt Lake City market is seeking an experienced Superintendent to oversee a variety of public utility and civil infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for a hands-on field leader who can manage crews, drive production, and deliver projects safely and efficiently.
Position Overview
The Superintendent will be responsible for the day-to-day field operations of heavy civil and utility projects throughout the Salt Lake Valley. Depending on project size and complexity, you'll oversee 1-3 active projects while coordinating field personnel, subcontractors, equipment, and schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead field operations from mobilization through completion
- Manage foremen, crews, subcontractors, and equipment resources
- Oversee public utility and heavy civil construction activities
- Maintain project schedules, quality standards, and safety performance
- Coordinate with Project Managers, inspectors, and owners
- Conduct daily planning and production meetings
- Monitor productivity and ensure projects stay on track
- Resolve field issues and maintain strong communication across project teams
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent in heavy civil construction
- Strong background in:
- Public utilities (water, sewer, storm drain)
- Excavation and earthwork
- Municipal infrastructure
- Roadway and civil site construction
- Ability to lead multiple crews and projects simultaneously
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing and field operations
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
