Are you an experienced surveying professional looking to take the lead on diverse and meaningful field projects? We are seeking a Survey Crew Chief to join our Indianapolis‑based team. In this role, you will oversee field survey operations that support topographic mapping, boundary determination, and construction layout efforts across a wide range of project types.
What You'll Do
- Lead daily field survey activities, including setup, adjustment, and operation of surveying instruments and equipment.
- Measure, record, and calculate field data from GPS, total stations, and levels.
- Perform land surveys for section corner maintenance, relocation, and property boundary establishment.
- Conduct construction layout for roads, bridges, development sites, utilities, and structures.
- Recover and set stakes, markers, and control points on project sites.
- Complete traverse calculations, level loops, and other basic survey math as needed.
- Maintain accurate field notes, sketches, and records of survey activities.
- Ensure proper care, calibration, and daily data download of field equipment and data collectors.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of experience performing boundary, topographic, and construction‑related surveys.
- Proficiency with GPS receivers, total stations, levels, and related survey tools.
- Familiarity with Trimble software preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to visualize objects in 3D and work with high accuracy standards.
- Strong teamwork skills and a solid work ethic.
Preferred (Not Required)
- UAV/Drone certification.
- Experience with AutoCAD or similar drafting software.
