Survey Tech | Newark

Join a team that plays a critical role in delivering complex transportation, utility, and heavy civil construction projects throughout the region. Working closely with field crews, project managers, and survey professionals, you'll be responsible for transforming field data into accurate, construction-ready deliverables that help keep projects moving from design through construction.

This is an excellent opportunity for a CAD professional who understands the fast-paced nature of construction surveying and enjoys seeing their work directly support major infrastructure projects in the field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare construction survey drawings, stakeout files, machine control models, and related project deliverables.
  • Process and draft survey data collected from GPS, robotic total stations, laser scanners, and other survey equipment.
  • Develop existing conditions, utility, topographic, and construction layout drawings.
  • Coordinate with survey crews, project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure accurate and timely deliverables.
  • Review plans and specifications to support construction layout and field operations.
  • Create and maintain surface models, alignments, and digital terrain models.
  • Assist with as-built surveys and preparation of record drawings.
  • Ensure all work meets company quality standards and project requirements.

Important: This is not a traditional land survey CAD position. Candidates must have direct experience supporting construction survey/layout operations and understand the relationship between office-generated CAD deliverables and field construction activities.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Survey CAD experience.
  • Must have experience supporting construction surveying and/or construction layout projects.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Strong understanding of survey coordinate systems, geometry, and construction stakeout principles.
  • Experience processing field survey data and producing construction-ready deliverables.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with heavy highway, bridge, utility, site development, or other civil infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with machine control modeling workflows.
  • Exposure to laser scanning, drone/UAV data, or 3D modeling.
  • Experience working directly with construction contractors and field survey crews.

**Must be authorized to work in the United States
