A leading Pacific Northwest engineering firm is seeking a Technical Fish Passage Project Manager to lead stream restoration and aquatic habitat connectivity projects across Washington and Oregon. This is a high-impact leadership role focused on managing a talented team of engineers and scientists, driving strategic growth, and delivering innovative solutions that restore ecosystems and improve fish migration pathways.
About the Role
You'll oversee the planning, design, and implementation of fish passage and stream restoration projects, including culvert replacements and habitat improvements. In addition to technical leadership, you'll play a key role in mentoring staff, managing client relationships, and supporting business development efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of engineers and scientists focused on fish passage and stream restoration.
- Oversee project delivery including scope, schedule, budget, and quality assurance.
- Serve as technical lead for hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and design.
- Prepare and review engineering calculations, design plans, reports, and construction documents.
- Conduct site assessments, field investigations, and data collection.
- Collaborate with biologists, planners, and environmental scientists on interdisciplinary projects.
- Support permitting and regulatory compliance with local, state, and federal agencies.
- Build and maintain client relationships and contribute to strategic planning and business development.
- Mentor junior staff and foster a culture of technical excellence and collaboration.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering.
- PE license in Washington State.
- 10+ years of experience in water resources engineering, including hydrology and hydraulics.
- 3+ years in a leadership or management role.
- Proficiency with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, or similar design software.
- Experience preparing and reviewing construction documents.
- Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills.
- WSDOT Fish Passage and Stream Restoration Design certification or ability to obtain within one year.
Preferred:
- Direct experience with fish passage and stream restoration projects.
- Familiarity with Washington State permitting processes (e.g., WSDOT, WDFW, Ecology).
- GIS experience.
- Master's degree in water resources or environmental engineering.
