Transportation Engineer

Our client, a well‑established civil engineering and planning firm with more than 70 years in the industry, is seeking a Transportation Engineer to join their growing Nashville office. This is an excellent opportunity for an early‑ to mid‑career transportation professional with 3+ years of experience who is passionate about municipal roadway and traffic projects. The firm offers tremendous growth potential on both the technical and project management paths, along with flexible work schedules and strong collaboration across all offices.

The Transportation Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the design of roadway, traffic, and multimodal infrastructure projects
  • Preparing plans, reports, calculations, and technical documentation
  • Developing roadway layouts, alignments, and corridor studies
  • Using MicroStation or OpenRoads Designer for roadway and traffic design tasks
  • Assisting with traffic impact studies, signal design, timing, and operations analysis
  • Coordinating with internal teams, subconsultants, and municipal/TDOT clients
  • Participating in on‑call assignments for multiple surrounding cities
  • Contributing to transportation studies, planning efforts, and long‑range planning
  • Supporting project managers with task delivery, schedules, and quality control

The ideal candidate will have:

  • At least 3 years of experience in transportation, roadway, or traffic engineering
  • Experience working with municipal clients (city/county) and/or TDOT
  • Proficiency with MicroStation and/or OpenRoads Designer
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • EIT or PE license in Tennessee (or ability to obtain in a timely manner)
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team‑oriented mindset
  • Interest in both technical development and long‑term career growth
  • Ability to work on a diverse portfolio of roadway, traffic, and planning projects
