Transportation Engineer
Our client, a well‑established civil engineering and planning firm with more than 70 years in the industry, is seeking a Transportation Engineer to join their growing Nashville office. This is an excellent opportunity for an early‑ to mid‑career transportation professional with 3+ years of experience who is passionate about municipal roadway and traffic projects. The Transportation Engineer will be responsible for:
- Supporting the design of roadway, traffic, and multimodal infrastructure projects
- Preparing plans, reports, calculations, and technical documentation
- Developing roadway layouts, alignments, and corridor studies
- Using MicroStation or OpenRoads Designer for roadway and traffic design tasks
- Assisting with traffic impact studies, signal design, timing, and operations analysis
- Coordinating with internal teams, subconsultants, and municipal/TDOT clients
- Participating in on‑call assignments for multiple surrounding cities
- Contributing to transportation studies, planning efforts, and long‑range planning
- Supporting project managers with task delivery, schedules, and quality control
The ideal candidate will have:
- At least 3 years of experience in transportation, roadway, or traffic engineering
- Experience working with municipal clients (city/county) and/or TDOT
- Proficiency with MicroStation and/or OpenRoads Designer
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- EIT or PE license in Tennessee (or ability to obtain in a timely manner)
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team‑oriented mindset
- Interest in both technical development and long‑term career growth
- Ability to work on a diverse portfolio of roadway, traffic, and planning projects
