About the Opportunity
A well‑established, multidisciplinary civil engineering and infrastructure consultancy is seeking an experienced Trenchless Engineer to support and lead the design of underground utility rehabilitation and replacement projects. This role offers the opportunity to work on technically complex programs across municipal, transportation, and utility clients while contributing to the growth of a specialized trenchless practice.
The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise, professional licensure, and the ability to collaborate across disciplines to deliver innovative trenchless solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the planning, design, and execution oftrenchless projects including:
- Cured‑in‑Place Pipe (CIPP)
- Sliplining
- Pipe bursting
- Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD)
- Microtunneling and auger boring
- Perform condition assessments and develop rehabilitation or replacement recommendations for underground assets.
- Prepare engineering calculations, design drawings, technical specifications, and contract documents.
- Serve as Engineer of Record on trenchless design assignments.
- Coordinate with CAD designers, inspectors, contractors, and project managers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide construction-phase engineering support, including submittal review and field issue resolution.
- Interface directly with clients, attending meetings, presenting technical solutions, and supporting proposals.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical development within the team.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license (or ability to obtain through reciprocity).
- 5+ years of experience in trenchless or underground utility engineering.
- Strong understanding of trenchless design methodologies, materials, and installation practices.
- Experience working on municipal or utility infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency with engineering design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Experience with large‑diameter or complex trenchless installations.
- Familiarity with pipeline inspection, CCTV evaluation, and asset management programs.
- Previous client‑facing or project management responsibilities.
- Active involvement in trenchless or industry professional organizations.
