Urban Planner
A national consulting firm with a strong presence across the Midwest is seeking an experienced and driven Urban Planner to lead and oversee complex projects across Illinois and surrounding states. This full-time leadership role offers the opportunity to manage high-impact planning projects that enhance community connectivity. Primary Responsibilities
- Analyze land use, zoning, transportation systems, housing trends, and environmental data to support strategic planning initiatives
- Create and execute long-range plans, community development strategies, and zoning policies that encourage sustainable growth
- Engage with public agencies, private developers, design professionals, and community members to ensure planning efforts reflect both regulatory requirements and community needs
- Develop clear and compelling reports, maps, and presentations to communicate planning concepts and recommendations
- Evaluate site plans and development proposals to ensure alignment with local codes, design standards, and planning objectives
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, or a closely related discipline
- At least 4 years of professional experience in urban or transportation planning
- AICP certification is a plus
- Solid understanding of municipal infrastructure systems, including water, wastewater, stormwater, and utility networks
- Proven ability to interpret and apply land development regulations and subdivision codes in coordination with local government entities
- Strong skills in communication, organization, and time management, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
