VDC Engineer
We're looking for a Mechanical Detailer to join our team and support engineering, VDC, fabrication, and field operations by producing precise, build-ready drawings and models for mechanical systems. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with prefabrication or BIM/VDC design/detailing experience who's looking for a long-term career path.
What You'll Do
In this fully remote position, you'll transform designs into coordinated, constructible drawings and models used across real-world construction projects. You'll collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, VDC professionals, and prefab/field teams to ensure accuracy and constructability.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing 3D models and prefabrication drawings for HVAC, piping, plumbing, and related support systems
- Creating shop drawings, spool sheets, and detailed material lists
- Reviewing project plans, contract documents, and specifications
- Working in partnership with engineering, VDC, and prefabrication teams
- Incorporating markups, redlines, and revisions
- Assisting in identifying and resolving basic coordination or constructability concerns
- Organizing and maintaining drawing sets and documentation
- Providing remote support to shop and field personnel for drawing-related questions
What You Bring
- Minimum of 2 years of plumbing or pipefitting field experience
- Ability to interpret and understand construction documents
- Strong attention to detail with a desire to continue developing technical expertise
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Basic computer competency (Microsoft Office preferred)
- High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with mechanical systems or prefabrication workflows
- Background in commercial or industrial construction
- Familiarity with tools such as Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, or TrimbleMEP
