VDC/BIM Coordinator (Mechanical) - Tampa
About the Role
A leading mechanical contractor in the Tampa area is seeking a Mid-Level VDC/BIM Mechanical Coordinator to join their growing team. This role is ideal for someone with a solid foundation in BIM coordination who's ready to take ownership of mechanical modeling, clash detection, and field coordination on complex commercial and institutional projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage 3D mechanical models (HVAC, plumbing, piping) using Revit and Navisworks
- Coordinate with internal teams and external trades to resolve clashes and ensure constructability
- Participate in BIM coordination meetings and communicate updates to project stakeholders
- Generate shop drawings, spool sheets, and installation layouts for field teams
- Support preconstruction and estimating teams with model-based quantity takeoffs
- Maintain model accuracy throughout the project lifecycle, including as-builts
- Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and fabrication teams to ensure alignment between model and field execution
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in BIM/VDC coordination within the mechanical contracting industry
- Proficiency in Revit, Navisworks Manage, AutoCAD, and BIM 360/ACC
- Familiarity with mechanical systems and construction sequencing
- Strong understanding of clash detection, model federation, and LOD standards
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Experience working on commercial, healthcare, or institutional projects preferred
Preferred Skills
- Experience with fabrication tools (e.g., SysQue, Trimble)
- Knowledge of construction scheduling and sequencing
- Familiarity with field layout tools and processes
