We are partnering with a leading AI infrastructure and GPU cloud platform provider that delivers high-performance, scalable computing solutions to AI-driven organizations, ranging from fast-growing startups to global enterprises. The company is at the forefront of enabling next-generation AI innovation through advanced digital infrastructure and sustainable technology solutions.
As the organization continues to expand its footprint in South Korea, they are seeking a Vice President, Government Affairs to lead engagement with government stakeholders, municipalities, regulatory bodies, and local communities. This individual will play a critical role in building trusted relationships, supporting infrastructure development initiatives, and ensuring the company is viewed as a responsible and long-term contributor to local economic growth.
Reporting to the Korea leadership team, the successful candidate will work closely with operational, legal, policy, and site development teams across the country.
Key Responsibilities
Government & Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as the primary liaison with local governments, municipal leaders, regional authorities, and community stakeholders across existing and future project locations.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with policymakers, government agencies, industry associations, and local community representatives.
- Represent the company in strategic discussions related to digital infrastructure development and regional economic initiatives.
Community Relations & Social Impact
- Design and implement community engagement and investment programs that create meaningful local impact.
- Build partnerships with educational institutions, STEM initiatives, cultural organizations, and community groups.
- Promote positive relationships between project sites and surrounding communities, fostering long-term trust and collaboration.
Regulatory & Permitting Support
- Partner with internal project and site development teams to support permitting, zoning, environmental review processes, and other regulatory requirements.
- Provide strategic guidance on navigating local and regional government approvals.
- Engage relevant stakeholders to facilitate project execution while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
Infrastructure & Sustainability Initiatives
- Support partnerships and initiatives related to energy efficiency, sustainable infrastructure, and community-focused environmental programs.
- Explore opportunities for collaboration with municipalities, utilities, and local industries on innovative infrastructure projects.
- Contribute to sustainability and community development strategies aligned with the company's broader ESG objectives.
Public Affairs & Industry Representation
- Represent the company at industry forums, trade associations, government meetings, public consultations, and community events.
- Deliver presentations and participate in public discussions regarding digital infrastructure, AI innovation, and economic development.
- Strengthen the company's reputation through proactive stakeholder engagement and thought leadership.
Policy Monitoring & Advocacy
- Monitor legislative, regulatory, and policy developments impacting data centers, AI infrastructure, energy availability, and digital economy investments.
- Provide strategic insights and recommendations to executive leadership regarding policy risks and opportunities.
- Support advocacy efforts with government stakeholders and relevant industry bodies.
Requirements
Experience
- Minimum 8 years of experience in government affairs, public policy, public affairs, community relations, regulatory affairs, or regional development.
- Experience within data centers, digital infrastructure, telecommunications, technology, energy, utilities, real estate, or large-scale infrastructure sectors is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated success managing relationships with government bodies and local stakeholders for complex infrastructure projects.
Knowledge & Expertise
- Strong understanding of South Korea's political, regulatory, and governmental landscape, from municipal to national levels.
- Familiarity with permitting processes, infrastructure development frameworks, and government engagement strategies.
- Proven ability to balance commercial objectives with community and stakeholder interests.
Communication & Leadership
- Native-level Korean language proficiency and strong business-level English communication skills.
- Excellent negotiation, relationship management, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills with experience representing organizations externally.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Law, Communications, International Relations, or a related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of South Korea's power market, energy infrastructure, and grid capacity planning.
- Established network within government agencies, regulatory authorities, and industry associations.
- Experience managing public concerns, community engagement challenges, or media-related issues surrounding infrastructure developments.
- Understanding of ESG frameworks and sustainability initiatives related to digital infrastructure, technology, or energy projects.
