We are seeking a full-time Wastewater Operator to join our team at an industrial wastewater treatment facility.
The ideal candidate will oversee daily operations at an industrial treatment plant, ensuring treated effluent quality through effective process monitoring, troubleshooting, and operational decision-making. This position involves working with pumps, piping systems, tanks, instrumentation, and related process equipment.
Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential, as the successful candidate will work closely with operations personnel, maintenance staff, contractors, and management.
This position may require occasional on-call, evening, or weekend coverage as operational needs dictate.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor plant and equipment performance, including hydraulic flows, temperatures, pH, COD, pressures, and overall treatment system performance.
- Conduct compliance inspections, safety audits, routine sampling, and operational reporting.
- Optimize facility performance and treatment throughput while maintaining environmental compliance.
- Manage inventory of treatment chemicals, consumables, and spare parts utilizing a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Operate and oversee biological treatment systems, chemical feed systems, pumping systems, filtration equipment, solids handling processes, and associated treatment technologies.
- Troubleshoot operational issues and coordinate corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with environmental permits and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Maintain required operator certifications and continuing education as applicable.
Required Skills & Experience
- Wastewater Operator certification preferred (industrial treatment experience strongly preferred).
- Minimum of three years of relevant experience in wastewater operations, industrial maintenance, utility operations, manufacturing, or related fields.
- Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including pumps, piping, motors, generators, and instrumentation.
- Experience with PLCs, process controls, and field instrumentation such as pressure, temperature, flow, and pH monitoring devices.
- Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Office applications, email, reporting systems, and electronic documentation.
- Experience coordinating with contractors, tradespeople, and maintenance personnel is preferred.
- Experience using CMMS software is preferred.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to work in industrial environments, including climbing stairs, standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working both indoors and outdoors.
