The firm works across both public and private sectors on a diverse portfolio of stormwater, floodplain, drainage, and low impact development projects with a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team culture and a genuine investment in the professional growth of its engineers.
The Role
A hands-on water resources engineering position supporting all phases of project design and delivery across stormwater management, floodplain analysis, drainage infrastructure, and LID efforts. A strong fit for an engineer with a solid H&H background looking to work on meaningful, technically varied projects in the Portland market.
Responsibilities
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analysis including 2D modeling
- Design stormwater management facilities and drainage infrastructure
- Prepare plans, cost estimates, schedules, and technical reports
- Navigate floodplain permitting, FEMA processes, and agency coordination
- Support erosion control design and low impact development solutions
- Track permitting requirements and schedules throughout project lifecycles
- Support construction administration through site visits, meetings, and inspections
Required Qualifications
- Oregon PE license (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Water Resources, or Environmental Engineering (or equivalent)
- 4+ years of experience in water resources, stormwater, or hydraulic engineering
- Proficiency with H&H modeling software such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, XPSTORM, InfoDrainage, or similar
- Strong technical writing, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills with internal teams, clients, and agency staff
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with design standards and permitting in the Portland metro and SW Washington areas
- Experience with 2D hydraulic modeling (HEC-RAS 2D, TUFLOW, or similar)
- Washington State PE license (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
- FEMA floodplain mapping experience including LOMR or CLOMR submittals
- Proficiency in ArcGIS, Civil 3D, and Bluebeam
- Experience with LID and Green Stormwater Infrastructure on public and private projects
- Knowledge of Oregon DSL, USACE Section 404/401, and FEMA permitting
- CFM certification or willingness to obtain within one year
Compensation
- $105,000 to $135,000 depending on experience
- Exceptionally qualified candidates may be considered for a Senior Water Resources Engineer title with compensation reaching $145,000+
