Water Resources Engineer

Location: Bangor, Maine

Our client is a well-established consulting engineering firm with a strong presence across the Northeast, delivering a wide range of environmental and civil engineering services. Their Bangor office is continuing to grow its water resources group and is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to support a diverse portfolio of projects across Maine and the wider region.

This is an opportunity to join a collaborative, technically focused team working on a mix of stormwater, watershed, and environmental projects, with exposure to both public and private sector clients.

Role

  • Support the design and delivery of water resources and stormwater management projects from planning through construction
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, drainage analysis, and flood studies
  • Assist with preparation of stormwater management plans, permitting documentation, and technical reports
  • Contribute to erosion and sediment control design and environmental compliance efforts
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including civil engineers, environmental scientists, and planners
  • Support field work, site investigations, and construction-phase services as needed

Projects & Exposure

  • Watershed and drainage studies across urban and rural environments
  • Stormwater management and environmental permitting projects
  • Flood risk assessment and hydraulic modelling initiatives
  • Infrastructure and development-related water resources design
  • Work closely with state, municipal, and private clients

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field
  • 3-8 years of experience in water resources, stormwater, or civil engineering
  • Strong background in hydrology and hydraulics, including modelling experience
  • Experience with tools such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, or similar
  • Familiarity with stormwater regulations, permitting, and drainage design
  • EIT required, with ability to obtain PE license preferred
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
