Water Resources Engineer

Their multidisciplinary teams include hydrologists, hydraulic engineers, fluvial geomorphologists, wetland scientists, environmental specialists, and permitting professionals working together to deliver technically challenging projects that have a direct impact on communities and natural resources.
Due to continued growth and a substantial backlog of work, our client is seeking a Water Resources Engineer with 3+ years of experience to join their expanding practice. This opportunity is ideal for an engineer looking to broaden their technical expertise while working alongside experienced technical leaders on a diverse mix of hydrologic, hydraulic, stormwater, flood mitigation, climate resilience, and river engineering projects. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute throughout the full project lifecycle, from planning and modelling through design, permitting, and construction support.
Responsibilities
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses using industry-standard modelling software including HEC-RAS and HEC-HMS.
- Support the planning, design, and implementation of stormwater management, drainage, flood mitigation, and watershed improvement projects.
- Prepare floodplain analyses, flood studies, watershed assessments, and stormwater design calculations.
- Contribute to river restoration, stream stabilisation, culvert replacement, and aquatic organism passage projects.
- Prepare technical reports, modelling documentation, permit applications, and regulatory submissions.
- Coordinate with environmental, structural, survey, and permitting professionals on multidisciplinary projects.
- Support client meetings, agency coordination, and public engagement activities.
- Assist with project delivery, scheduling, budgeting, and quality assurance processes.
- Develop technical expertise while working closely with experienced mentors and technical leaders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 3+ years of relevant water resources engineering experience.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licence preferred or actively pursuing licensure.
- Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, stormwater management, drainage design, watershed studies, floodplain analysis, or related water resources projects.
- Working knowledge of HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, GIS, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or similar technical software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
