Water Resources Project Manager

Location: Irvine, CA (Hybrid Flexibility Available)

Compensation: $110,000 - $150,000+ base salary, plus annual bonus potential, employee ownership, and comprehensive benefits

About the Opportunity

A nationally recognized, employee-owned water and environmental consulting firm is seeking a Water Resources Project Manager to join its growing Southern California team in Irvine.

This position offers the opportunity to lead technically challenging projects focused on groundwater management, water supply planning, recharge and sustainability programs, water resources modeling, and long-term water management strategies. You'll work closely with public agencies, water districts, municipalities, and private-sector clients on projects that directly impact California's water future.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage water resources projects from planning through implementation and delivery.
  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams while maintaining schedules, budgets, and client expectations.
  • Oversee technical analyses including:
    • Groundwater studies
    • Water budgets and accounting frameworks
    • Groundwater recharge evaluations
    • Water supply and sustainability planning
    • Numerical groundwater modeling
  • Review and direct technical reports, memoranda, and project deliverables.
  • Coordinate directly with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders.
  • Support proposal development, scope preparation, and business development efforts.
  • Present technical findings to clients, agencies, and public audiences.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • 6+ years of relevant water resources experience.
  • Project management experience with responsibility for scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Strong understanding of groundwater, water supply planning, and water resources engineering.
  • Experience with tools such as:
    • MODFLOW
    • IWFM
    • ArcGIS
    • Python or R (preferred)
  • Knowledge of California water regulations and planning frameworks, including SGMA, UWMPs, and regional water management programs, is highly desirable.
  • PE, PG, CHG, or related professional licensure preferred.
