Water/Wastewater Project Engineer
Position Overview
A multidisciplinary engineering and design firm is seeking a Project Engineer with 4-7+ years of experience in water and wastewater infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in hydraulic analysis, system design, and construction documentation. The firm supports a wide range of public and private sector projects, including land development, municipal utilities, and infrastructure planning.
This role offers flexibility in office location across several metro areas and provides opportunities for technical growth, leadership development, and meaningful contributions to impactful projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop construction documents for water and wastewater infrastructure such as pump stations, storage facilities, treatment systems, wells, and distribution/collection networks.
- Prepare design reports, technical specifications, and hydraulic modeling studies.
- Support planning and engineering efforts for land and site development projects.
- Collaborate with internal teams, external consultants, utility providers, and municipal clients.
- Provide engineering support during construction phases, including submittal reviews, RFIs, and commissioning.
- Ensure quality control, manage schedules, and oversee production of design plans.
- Mentor junior staff and assist in project coordination and team leadership.
- Address plan review comments and facilitate approvals.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 4-7+ years of relevant experience in water/wastewater engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 12 months.
- Strong understanding of hydraulic principles and infrastructure design.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
- Excellent organizational, technical, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently.
Preferred:
- Experience with pump stations, reservoirs, lift stations, and pipeline design.
- Familiarity with design software such as Bluebeam Revu, WaterCAD, SewerCAD, Hammer, or InfoWater.
- Knowledge of local and regional utility standards and permitting processes.
