Water/Wastewater Project Manager

Currently representing a nationally recognised engineering consultancy that specialises exclusively in water infrastructure. With decades of experience delivering critical municipal projects, the firm has built a reputation for technical excellence across water treatment, wastewater treatment, reuse, conveyance, and utility infrastructure projects.

Due to continued growth across the Southeast, they are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex water and wastewater projects while developing and maintaining strong municipal client relationships.

The Role

This position offers the opportunity to manage medium to large-scale water and wastewater projects from planning and design through construction and project closeout.

You will be responsible for leading multidisciplinary teams, managing project delivery, overseeing client relationships, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage water and wastewater projects of varying size and complexity.
  • Maintain responsibility for project scope, budget, schedule, staffing, quality, and risk management.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout project delivery.
  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide technical leadership and engineering guidance on complex project challenges.
  • Develop project work plans, staffing plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Monitor project financial performance and forecasting.
  • Coordinate permitting, bidding, construction, startup, and project closeout activities.
  • Manage and coordinate subconsultants and project partners.
  • Mentor junior staff and support the development of future project leaders.
  • Assist with proposal preparation, interviews, fee development, and contract negotiations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with municipal clients throughout the region.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Experience managing municipal water and wastewater projects.
  • Strong understanding of project delivery, budgeting, scheduling, and client management.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Business development and client relationship experience is advantageous.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality projects while managing multiple priorities.
