Position Overview
The Wetland Scientist / Ecologist Project Manager will lead ecological consulting projects and support the continued expansion of environmental services throughout the region. This position is responsible for managing client relationships, overseeing project delivery, conducting technical environmental work, and supporting a wide variety of environmental and civil engineering projects.

The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in wetland delineation, ecological assessments, permitting, mitigation, restoration, and natural resource management, along with demonstrated success managing projects, clients, budgets, and schedules.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage ecological consulting projects from proposal development through completion, including budgets, schedules, deliverables, and client communication
• Lead wetland delineations, habitat assessments, threatened and endangered species evaluations, vegetation surveys, and other natural resource investigations
• Prepare and review technical reports, permit applications, environmental documentation, and compliance-related deliverables
• Coordinate permitting efforts with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies and develop effective environmental compliance strategies
• Support environmental, infrastructure, transportation, land development, and water resources projects across the region
• Utilize GIS, GPS, aerial imagery, and historical mapping data to evaluate environmental resources and site conditions
• Develop proposals, support business development efforts, and maintain strong client relationships
• Mentor junior staff and provide technical oversight of field investigations, reporting, and project execution
• Participate in ecological monitoring, restoration, mitigation, and natural resource management initiatives
• Travel throughout the region with occasional overnight travel as needed

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Biology, Botany, Natural Resources, Soil Science, Environmental Planning, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in wetland science, ecology, environmental consulting, permitting, or natural resource management
• Experience conducting wetland delineations, ecological assessments, habitat evaluations, species surveys, and environmental permitting
• Strong understanding of environmental regulations and permitting processes
• Demonstrated project management experience including budgets, schedules, and client interaction
• Strong field botany and plant identification skills
• Excellent communication, technical writing, and organizational skills
• Valid driver's license and ability to perform fieldwork in a variety of environmental conditions

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting wetland mitigation, ecological restoration, stream restoration, or habitat enhancement projects
• Professional certifications such as Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS), Certified Ecologist, Certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner (CERP), Professional Wildlife Biologist, Certified Arborist, or similar credentials
• Experience working with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies on permitting and compliance matters
• Familiarity with transportation, utility, energy, water resources, municipal, or land development projects
• Business development experience including proposal preparation, client relationship management, and practice growth initiatives
• Experience mentoring junior scientists and managing multidisciplinary project teams
