Are you passionate about air quality and its practical applications? We are seeking a skilled Atmospheric Dispersion Modeler with expertise in AERMOD to joing the team in either Portland, OR or Denver, CO. At this air quality consulting firm, you will play a crucial role in assessing and mitigating the impacts of air pollutants on human health and the environment.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct atmospheric dispersion modeling using AERMOD to assess the transport and fate of air pollutants from various industrial and urban sources.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate modeling results into environmental impact assessments and regulatory compliance reports.
- Analyze complex datasets and provide technical support for environmental permitting and compliance projects.
- Communicate modeling results effectively to clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Atmospheric Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in atmospheric dispersion modeling, with a strong emphasis on AERMOD.
- Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS) and statistical analysis tools.
- Solid understanding of air quality regulations (e.g., Clean Air Act) and environmental permitting processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Certified Consulting Meteorologist (CCM) certification.
- Experience with other air quality models such as CALPUFF, CALINE, or HYSPLIT.
- Familiarity with programming languages (e.g., Python, R) for data analysis and visualization.
