Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Structural Bridge Engineer to join our team on a fully remote basis. As a key member of our structural engineering department, you will play a crucial role in the design, analysis, and inspection of bridge structures across various projects in Illinois. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of structural engineering principles, a strong background in bridge design, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the structural design and analysis of bridge projects, including new construction, rehabilitation, and retrofitting.
- Perform structural assessments and evaluations of existing bridge structures, identifying deficiencies and recommending appropriate solutions.
- Prepare detailed engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports in accordance with industry standards and client requirements.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, civil engineers, and project managers, to ensure project success.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and support staff.
- Conduct site visits and inspections as needed to assess project conditions and monitor construction progress.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Illinois required.
- Structural Engineer (SE) licensure in the state of Illinois is mandatory.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on bridge design and analysis.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software such as SAP2000, CSI Bridge, or similar.
- Strong knowledge of relevant codes and standards, including AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and a track record of successfully managing complex engineering projects from concept to completion.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote work environment, demonstrating self-motivation and initiative.
