Job Summary: They are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Consulting Engineer specializing in Transmission Planning to join their team. As a key member of our consultancy, you will be responsible for providing expertise and guidance to clients in the design, planning, and optimization of transmission systems. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring the reliable and efficient distribution of electrical power.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with clients to understand their transmission system needs, including load forecasts and grid expansion requirements.
- Conduct thorough analyses of existing transmission systems, identifying potential bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
- Develop comprehensive transmission system plans and strategies, considering factors such as equipment upgrades, new installations, and grid reliability enhancements.
- Evaluate and propose alternative energy solutions, including renewable energy integration and grid modernization.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, project plans, and cost estimates for client presentations.
- Utilize advanced software and modeling tools to simulate transmission system behavior and assess the impact of proposed changes.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, project managers, and regulatory experts, to ensure the successful execution of transmission projects.
- Stay up-to-date with industry standards, regulations, and emerging technologies in transmission planning.
- Act as a liaison between the client and our firm, ensuring effective communication and client satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related field. (Master's degree is a plus)
- 2-4 years of industry experience, with preference for experience in power system planning or modeling at an ISO/RTO or utility.
- Strong knowledge of transmission system design, grid modeling, and grid stability.
- Proficiency in power system simulation software (e.g., PSS/E, PSLF, PSCAD, PowerWorld, etc.).
- Preferred - Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent certification in electrical engineering.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance and grid interconnection standards.
