My client is a leading family run EPC firm that serves the oil & gas industry. They're highly reputable and have been going over 40 years with 75% of their projects being repeat business. As they continue to expand our operations, we are seeking a talented and motivated Automation Engineer to join the Houston team.
Position Overview:
As an Automation Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and implementing automation solutions to optimize industrial processes. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions that enhance efficiency, reliability, and safety.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop automation systems, including PLC, HMI and DCS systems.
- Conduct system integration, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborate with project teams to define requirements, scope, and timelines.
- Implement control strategies to improve process efficiency and productivity.
- Provide technical support and training to operations and maintenance teams.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in automation technology.
- Commissioning and start ups
- Adhere to safety standards and regulatory requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
- Travel up to 25% (mostly in Texas)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field.
- Proven experience in designing and programming automation systems.
- Commissioning, start ups and troubleshooting experience
- Proficiency in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.) and HMI development.
- Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, etc.).
- DCS (DeltaV is a plus)
- Familiarity with process control principles and instrumentation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Prior experience in the oil & gas, manufacturing, or related industries is a plus.
