Job Summary: As a DER Optimization Planning Engineer, you will be a key player in the planning and optimization of distributed energy resources. Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, you will contribute to the development of strategies and plans to enhance the efficiency and performance of our distributed energy systems.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning and optimization efforts for distributed energy resources, including solar PV, energy storage, and demand response technologies.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather technical requirements and constraints for DER projects.
- Utilize modeling tools and analytics to assess the impact of DER integration on the grid and optimize system performance.
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for DER projects, considering both technical and economic factors.
- Develop and implement strategies for DER dispatch and control to maximize overall system reliability and efficiency.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes related to DER planning and optimization.
- Work closely with regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with relevant standards and guidelines.
- Contribute to the preparation of technical reports, proposals, and documentation for DER projects.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure successful implementation of DER optimization strategies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field.
- Solid understanding of distributed energy resources, grid integration, and optimization techniques.
- Experience with DER modeling tools, such as DER-CAM, HOMER, or similar.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities within a team environment.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and standards related to distributed energy resources.
- Familiarity with energy management systems (EMS) and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems is a plus.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is desirable.
