About the role
We are looking for an experienced and business-driven Director to join us in our Western Sydney Office, to work on a range of statutory and strategic projects across Metropolitan Sydney, working with a range of private, government and non-profit sector clients.
Position Description
The role will provide urban planning services as a part of the Western Sydney Planning team (based in Parramatta), which has a focus on major statutory and strategic planning projects in the region.
Consultancy Services
- Employ a thorough understanding of statutory, strategic and land use planning principles at a strategic and technical level to provide practical and expert planning advice to clients and the project team.
- Provide high-quality deliverables across all three business areas including but not limited to Planning Proposals, Statement of Environmental Effects, Strategic Planning Reports, Clause 4.6 Variations, Expert advice and reports for the Land and Environment Court,
- Direct and independent contact as a senior representative with senior government agency staff (Council, DPE etc) to progress planning applications and consulting work
- Prepare, or manage the preparation of high-quality planning reports
- Ability to attend and represent the company as a key team leader at client workshops/meetings and provide advice on planning matters.
Project and Team Management
- Be a leader within the company and positively contribute to the culture
- Drive collaboration across the company and teams
- Ability to manage and progress projects with minimal oversight including direct contact with client PMs.
- Awareness and tracking of project budgets.
- Management and prioritisation of competing deadlines, alerting clients where capacity issues are foreseeable.
- Review monthly invoices prepared by staff for projects.
Marketing and Business Development
- Undertake business development activities and lead new business and work pipelines within your team.
- Lead the preparation of fee proposals and tender responses.
- Awareness of planning trends and ability to identify further work opportunities from these for existing jobs and clients
- Attend industry events to promote the business and your profile
What we're looking for:
- Degree qualified in relevant discipline.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- At least 10 years+' experience, with prior experience in both private and public planning roles preferred.
- Confidence in decision making and ability to lead teams.
- Strong commercial acumen
- Australian citizen or appropriate work visa.
